A wet summer focuses the mind
Rain does the damage. I learned that early, watching Irish rainfall hammer down on badly laid flags that shifted and pooled within a season. Falls set correctly from the start, even a degree or two toward a drainage edge, change everything. We carry that thinking into every job we do here in Essex.
What we lay and what we work with
We cover the full range of surfacing materials. Every one of them behaves differently underfoot and in wet weather, so the sub-base and falls matter as much as the surface itself.
- Porcelain tiles
- Indian sandstone
- Concrete flagstones
- Natural limestone
- Block paving
- Granite setts
- Gravel and resin-bound surfaces
Porcelain looks sharp but it’s unforgiving if the base moves. Indian sandstone is earthy and warm. Concrete flags are honest and they last. Block paving suits driveways and paths that take heavy foot traffic. We advise on which suits the ground conditions on your plot before a single slab goes down.
Beyond the patio itself
A patio on its own rarely tells the whole story. We also install timber fencing, garden walling, roll-on turf and artificial grass. (We once laid artificial grass for a lad who’d played with Ballymun Kickhams before moving over, and he said it still felt nothing like Parnell Park, which was fair enough.) Garden paths connect everything together. A tidy edge makes the whole space read as finished.
Where we work and who we are
We’re based in Takeley and cover the surrounding parts of Essex. We keep our sites clean and our timescales honest. The work is straightforward when it’s done right. It rarely is if corners get cut on the base. That part never shows, which is precisely why we take it seriously.
