Right, here is the honest bit about DIY. A lot of people try to lay their own patio on a garden that sits on heavy Northamptonshire clay, and the whole thing fails within a season because clay moves, it heaves in frost, and if your sub-base is not deep enough or your 4:1 sharp sand cement bedding mortar mix is not consistent across every joint, you will see lips and cracks before the year is out, especially on any gradient at all.

We dig properly. We compact properly. We get the falls right for drainage from the off. No gaps in the process, no guess work on the mix.

Porcelain is the one that trips people up most. It is dense, heavy, and unforgiving if the bed is not spot on. However, done right, it lasts decades and barely needs maintenance. We lay it every week and know exactly what it needs.

So whether it is a new sandstone patio off the kitchen, a limestone path down the side passage, or a full garden overhaul with walling and fencing, we handle the lot. Sure it’s grand when everything comes together on a garden that started as a mud patch.
