Ballyfermot Guttering
Dublin rain does not forgive a bad gutter
Rain comes sideways here. Anyone who has stood on a Dublin street in November knows exactly what I mean. When gutters fail, water finds every crack it can, and the damage builds up quietly until it is expensive.
I have been fixing that problem for years, working across Dublin, mostly on the red brick terraces and pebble-dash semi-detached houses that make up the bulk of housing stock in the area. These older rooflines have their own quirks. Brackets rust, fascias rot, and falls go flat. I know what to look for.
What we do
- New gutter installation and full replacements in uPVC, aluminium, and cast iron
- Half-round, ogee, and square-line profiles
- Downpipe repair and full replacement
- Soffit and fascia replacement in uPVC
- Leaf guards and gutter mesh fitting
- Connection to existing soakaways and gullies
- Rainwater diverter and water butt installation
- Hopper heads and rainwater outlets
One job that catches people off guard is the parapet wall lead flashing junction. Where a gutter or downpipe meets a parapet, the flashing has to be right. If it is not, water sits. That is a slow rot waiting to happen. It is not glamorous work, but it matters.
A typical installation day
- Arrive, check roofline level and condition of existing fascia boards
- Strip out old guttering and brackets
- Replace or repair fascia and soffit boards where needed
- Set new brackets at correct spacing to give proper fall toward the downpipe
- Cut and fit new gutter sections, seal joints
- Fit downpipes and connect to existing drainage at ground level
- Run water test to confirm flow and check for any pooling
- Clear up and leave the site clean
Simple enough on a dry day (and those are not guaranteed around here). Every job gets a water test before I leave. That is not optional.
